4711 Alcon Drive Vandalized

Report:
4/29/2016:
On 4/28/2016 Our Plumber Tom when to the house to assess the scope of the plumbing work needed to be done (materials needed). When he got to the property he saw that the top lock was damaged and the bottom lock door know was broken off.  He also noticed that the rear door of the house was forced opened. He Immediately contacted the office to inform us of the issue.  On 4/29/2016 I (Mike) went to the property to assess exactly what happened.

I discovered the damage to the locks and rear door frame as Tom stated to us. I did a walkthrough of the property and discovered even more damage to the property.

Damages:
  • Exterior Rod Iron Railing was damaged and no longer connected to the wall or the concrete.
  • On the main level as soon as you enter the property, the main drain line to the house was broken.
  • In the kitchen, the wall and ceiling drywall was busted open and the copper pipes in the wall and ceiling had been cut out and removed.
  • To the rear of the kitchen off the garage, the bathroom drywall was busted and copper pipes removed from the bathroom and the cabinets in the laundry room torn down.
  • In the basement, the main water line was cut and removed as well as the copper pipes in the bathroom, basement, off of the hot water heater and possibly underneath the house. The rear door to the crawl space was found opened.  Some of the Framing and drywall was also damaged in the basement.
  • The AC Coil for the HVAC unit was removed and the HVAC housing damaged. The outside units are still there.
  • On the third level of the house. The copper pipes were cut and removed from the bathtubs and toilets as well as damage to the drywall.
The plumbing in the whole house will have to be checked and flagged for repair/replacement.
I contacted the police department to file a report with the Prince George's County Police. Officer Bradley #3725 gave us the following case number
# PP1604290000 0807

New top and bottom locks have been installed on the front door and a padlock on the interior rear door to secure the home. Picture of the damage has been included for your review and insurance purposes.

Recommendation Moving Forward:
We would suggest that an alarm system be install at the property to deter future criminal/vandalism such as this.
